It looks amazing but it gives me the idea that the designers were looking for a compromise between the old edition and the new one. I mean... the way the name of the author is placed, the title and the rectangle all over it, look just like the new edition of TMI and TID but there is a rune, something that wasn't there before, and below that there isn't a character, nor a city in the background. Overall the spine matches, but not completely. And this has made me think that if they wanted to include Emma, or any other character from TDA, on the spine, they would have done it already.
And, as you can see, it's bothering me... a lot! Mostly because I had finally decided to get rid of my italian copies, the translation is really bad and they're ugly (an empty background, a face with some scratches on the cheek), and I wanted to get the new edition with those gorgeous spines, loving the idea of having all the shadowhunters' characters next to each other, not only the ones from TMI and TID. The rune is a cute detail, the cover is really beautiful and has elements from both the editions, but the spine is the one thing you look at when the book is on the shelf and it should match the others.
Btw, I'm sorry for this rant (?) and for the grammar mistakes that I might have written... english is not my first language! I was just looking for better pictures of Lady Midnight and I ended up here! And now that I'm here, I must say that I quite like your blog! xDAnna T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/02817584927001830101noreply@blogger.com
